4-yr-old raped near PMC headquarters

Unidentified persons picked up a four-year-old girl from a footpath and raped her on the river bed near PMC headquarters early on Wednesday. An offence has been registered at Shivajinagar police station. The victim has been admitted to Sassoon General Hospital and her condition is critical,said police.

Primary investigation revealed that the victim’s father is a ragpicker. She along with her mother,two sisters and grandmother lived on the footpath along the river bed near PMC headquarters.

On Tuesday,she was sleeping on the footpath with her mother but was found missing in the morning. Her family started a search for her. After some time,she was found unconscious in the cement pipe on the river bed.

A police team reached the spot on receiving the information and took the girl to Sassoon hospital. Police said she was raped and left at the spot. A search has been launched for the rapists.
