A 27-year-old man from Bijlinagar slums was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by a gang of eight on Sunday night. The police suspect that Chandrashekhar Shivaji Pansare’s murder was the fallout of earlier rivalry and have arrested two suspects — Sachin Dangat (21) and Kishor Vichare (22) — both from Chinchwad. A search is on to nab the others.

Pansare’s friend Siddhartha Gurav had lodged a complaint of murder at Chinchwad police station and identified the prime suspect as Deepak Suryawanshi citing some dispute between Pansare and Suryawanshi in the past.

The police said Pansare was working at the Maurya Mandap and Decorators shop in Executive Apartment at Nigdi Pradhikaran. Around 10.30 pm,when Pansare was about to leave for home, eight persons barged into the shop and assaulted him with sharp weapon and metal rods and took him along.

Though Pansare’s co-worker Gurav intervened, the assailants threatened him with dire consequences. Gurav then informed the shop owner who informed the police. The police immediately launched a massive combing operation in the region.

Panasre’s dead body was found on the Mumbai-Bangalore Highway near Ravet on Monday morning.
