Damage control
After the Pune division of the state education department made the mistake on interpreting best of five formula, the officials started damage control on Monday.
They contacted around 120 ICSE students, who had already submitted their application forms. Many of them had not gone for best of five formula since it was not beneficial for them.
After the clarification,of the total students we contacted on Monday, around 20 students said they would want to go for best of five option. We will now feed their marks as per the best of five formula. We will keep on trying to contact the remaining students on Tuesday too, said Palshikar.
Science stream continues to be a hit
With the admission procedure almost nearing its end,the trend for maximum number of students opting for the science stream continues. The best-5 option, which led to the increase in the percentage of a large number of students is probably one of the most important reasons that led to so many students opting for science. There are 18,855 seats available in science stream and with one day left for submission of forms, the acceptance centres have already received as many as 16,141 forms till Monday.
The total number of forms sold over the period of four days were 60,192 out of which 25,611 belonged to the science stream alone. For Arts (Marathi),2,666 forms were sold out of which 937 were accepted, for Arts (English) 449 out of 921 forms were accepted. 6189 Commerce (Marathi) and 9177 Commerce (English) forms were accepted. As many 5587 and 1778 forms were sold for bi-focal and ATKT respectively, while 3266 and 878 forms were accepted for the same.
