An 18-year-old man was critically injured after being attacked by two members of a rival group, including a minor, who lured him into coming to a location using the fake profile of a young girl.

An FIR was registered at Haveli police station under Pune Rural police. The incident took place in JP Nagar area near Kirkatwadi Phata on the outskirts of Pune around 7am on Wednesday.
Police identified the injured person as Sagar Angur Chavan (18), a resident of Dahanukar Colony in Kothrud. Police have arrested the suspect identified as Ishwar Wanjale (18) and have detained another minor suspect.
“Initial probe suggests that the two suspects and Chavan belong to two rival groups. The two suspects created a profile of a young girl on Instagram over a month ago. They connected with the victim and were chatting with him through the fake profile for a month. On Wednesday morning, they called him to meet in the JP Nagar area posing as that girl. Around 7am, when Chavan came to the location, the duo attacked him with sharp machetes at least 24 times,” said an officer from Haveli police station.
“The victim received very severe wounds on his hand and also on the head, ear and face. He is currently in the ICU of a hospital. We have arrested Wanjale and have detained the minor suspect, who is around 17. The two have been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita including attempt to murder and relevanrt provisions of the Arms Act,” said the police officer.
