Two men were arrested by the Bhosari police on Saturday for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in a chawl in Fugewadi. The accused were produced in court and remanded in police custody till September 2.
The crime took place on Wednesday when the girl was alone at home in Fugewadi. The two accused,Sachin Avaghade,(27),and Shivaji Gaikwad,(22),also stayed in the area. The two allegedly entered the house,gagged her and raped her. The girl filed the complaint with the police the next day.
On a tip-off,the two were arrested during early hours of Saturday. The police said,As part of the investigation,the medical examination of the girl and the two men were done. We are also collecting other evidences.
The two have been charged under IPC Sections 376 for rape and Section 506 for Criminal Intimidation.
