A cyclist and a motorcyclist were injured after they were caught under a soil-loaded trailer that turned turtle while taking a turn at the circle in front of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) office at Rasta Peth around 1.15 am. Police had to call for a crane for rescuing the victims.
The cyclist,Santosh Anil Avsare (23),resident of Nana Peth has lodged a complaint at Samartha police station against the unknown trailer driver who escaped after the mishap. Police said that the driver lost control while taking the turn due to which trailer turned turtle on the road. Avsare and his friend Ajinkya Bhujbal (23) of Model Colony,who was riding a motorcycle,slipped due to the sudden movement of the trailer. They fell down and their vehicles came under the trailer. Avsare’s leg and Bhujbal’s left hand was caught. Local residents rushed to the spot and called the police and fire brigade. Meanwhile,Bhujbal called his family members over mobile phone with his right hand. Station fire officer Vijay Bhillare said that it was not possible to lift the heavy trailer manually. So the police had to call crane. As soon as the crane lifted the trailer,the victims were rushed to the hospital. Police said that both the victims were safe. Police sub- inspector B M Bhosale of Samartha police station is investigating the case.
