Winter seems to have finally set in the city with the Met department observing a decreasing trend in minimum temperatures.

Since Monday, the minimum temperature in Colaba has gone down from 23.3°C to 22.3°C on Wednesday. Santacruz also experienced a dip in temperature from 20.4°C to 19.5°C.

“This trend of dip in minimum temperatures can be attributed to the northerly winds,” said V K Rajeev,Director of India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The Met department expects this trend to continue for some days. “The minimum temperatures will continue to fall in the next four-five days,” said Rajeev.

Meanwhile, there was a slight increase in temperatures on Thursday, with Colaba recording 23°C and Santacruz recording 20.4°C. However,IMD officials said such a fluctuation is not unusual.

However, day time temperatures continue to be high, going as much as up to three degrees above normal. Both Colaba and Santacruz recorded three degrees above normal.

Weather officials say that it may take some time to see a dip in day time temperatures.
