Traffic movement towards Mumbai and Thane from Navi Mumbai will be diverted for a month due to the concretisation of a lane on the Uran Phata bridge in Navi Mumbai, authorities said. The lane will remain closed from February 22 to March 22, and vehicles travelling via the Sion-Panvel Highway towards Mumbai and Thane will be rerouted through alternative roads.

“During the one-month repair period, commuters travelling towards Mumbai and Thane are advised to follow designated alternative routes to avoid inconvenience,” said the notification issued by Navi Mumbai Police Traffic Department.

The Uran Phata bridge on the Sion-Panvel Highway has been in a deteriorating condition due to frequent repairs over time. Since its construction, the bridge has required continuous maintenance, leading to recurring traffic disruptions.

Additionally, the descent on the Mumbai-bound lane has been particularly challenging for two-wheeler riders, posing a safety risk. To provide a long-term solution, authorities have decided to carry out full-scale concretisation of the lane.

Traffic authorities will deploy personnel to manage diversions and ensure smooth traffic flow in the surrounding areas.

Alternative routes:

1. Vehicles heading from Pune to Mumbai have been advised to take the Panvel Exit via Atal Setu towards Mumbai.

2. Vehicles coming via Kalamboli are urged to take a left turn under the CBD Bridge and proceed towards Mumbai via Killa Junction and Palm Beach Road.
