As per the FIR, the accused Twitter user had posted three alleged objectionable posts on August 20, 2022, October 30, 2022 and February 13, 2023.

Devra, after seeing the tweet, found out the name of the person who was using the said Twitter handle and submitted a police complaint. Following this, the Vile Parle police lodged an FIR.

Police have charged Chandavar under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony).

Chandavar has approached the court seeking anticipatory bail. Hindu IT Cell has also moved an intervention application in the matter which was accepted by the court.

The court will now hear the matter on July 11.
