Three men rob office in Santacruz

Three unidentified men entered into an office and allegedly looted the owner by threatening her with toy pistols and tying her legs and hands with a nylon rope at Khira Nagar in Santacruz on Thursday.

Three unidentified men entered into an office and allegedly looted the owner by threatening her with toy pistols and tying her legs and hands with a nylon rope at Khira Nagar in Santacruz (West) on Thursday. The robbers took away Rs 55,000 and four mobile phones.

The incident occurred around 10 am at the Affable Fishers Pvt Ltd office, situated in the COSMOS building. The accused posed as customers and told the receptionist that they had come to meet the owner,Rupa Patel. After entering the office, the men threatened Patel and her three employees with toy pistols and tied Patel’s hands. They took the cash from a drawer in the office and fled.

According to the police, the motive behind the robbery appears to be personal. “The accused repeatedly told Patel that her brother has been acting smart lately. There is only one security guard in the building who did not report to work. We have called him for questioning,” said Pratap Dighavkar, deputy commissioner of police (zone 9).

The police added that Patel’s brother had a tiff in the society with some men a few months ago, which could also be the motive behind the robbery. The police have detained Patel’s former driver who was sacked for being irregular.

“We have got some important leads in the case and will nab the culprits very soon,” added Dighavkar. The police have not ruled out the possibility of an insider’s role in the robbery.

Patel said,‘’The trio spoke very softly before they pointed the revolver at me. They took away the cash and mobile phones from my drawer.”
