Though Mumbai is quite acquainted with the flavours of south India, one does not get to sample the cuisine of Andhra Pradesh often. However, with the Juhu unit of Mahesh Lunch Home holding a two-week-long festival that’s on till July 4,non-vegetarian fare from different parts of Andhra Pradesh are on offer. True to the palate of the region, these dishes are rich in spice and flavour. Guntur Prawn Masala uses a blend of cloves, peppercorn and grounded masala while Crab Pulusu is a crab curry made with cloves, cinnamon, cumin and tamarind. Though the menu has a number of chicken and mutton dishes apart from vegetarian fare,it is dominated by seafood dishes, including Masala Squid,Clams Ka Salan and Prawn 555. According to Suraj Shetty, owner of the restaurant, the festival is meant to encourage their visitors to experiment.
