NCC national camp shooting gold medallist Yogesh Muthe hopes he can excel like his hero Abhinav Bindra some day
He is passionate about joining the Indian Navy, for he feels he is more of a field person rather than an academic. Meet Yogesh Muthe, who has won the gold medal at the ongoing All-India Nav Sainik Camp in Vishakapatnam.
The Colaba lad is among the 27 shortlisted by the National Cadets Corp to represent the state at the annual nationwide competition. The prize might just be a gold medal, but he feels his more important responsibility is to win as many medals as possible so that they can lift the Prime Ministers Banner on January 26.
I love the sport, but more so after training under my commanding officer Captain Someshwar Nulla. I was sure that I will win. Its not for the medal but for the state,so that it can lift the prestigious banner.
A third-year student at Siddharth College of Commerce,Muthe hasnt attended classes for the past three months as he has been training at the INS Kunjali firing range.
Divisional Commander of 1 Maharashtra Naval Unit,Sunil Kamble, says,The college has been helpful; they informed us that Muthe can submit his assignments after the camp… We have provided all possible training to Muthe; he was selected from around 300 students from across the state. We were confident that he would be successful.
On future plans,Muthe says,I just want to excel in the sport and Abhinav Bindra is my hero; maybe I can be like him some day. And Kamble just wants all his students in excel in whatever they are good.
