The Bombay High Court on Tuesday sought a reply from the Maharashtra government on whether it proposed to formulate a scheme to tackle illegal constructions and dilapidated buildings across the state.

A division bench of Justices P V Hardas and Revati Dere was hearing a PIL filed by an NGO,Conscious Citizens Forum,seeking direction to the government and corporations of Mumbai,Thane and Navi Mumbai to take steps to stop mushrooming of illegal constructions.

The petition was filed after a building collapsed in Mumbra,killing over 20 persons and injuring several others. “The petitioner is aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the government,” the PIL read.
