Students of classes 3 to 8 to have centralised assessment tests for 3 subjects
The idea is to have uniformed parameters to understand the learning levels of students studying the state board curriculum in these classes.

The Maharashtra government Wednesday a Government Resolution (GR) to implement centralised assessment tests for classes 3 to 8 for three subjects – mathematics, first and third languages.
This will be applicable to schools run by the government as well as those which are aided and are offering Maharashtra state board curriculum.
The idea is to have uniformed parameters to understand the learning levels of students studying the state board curriculum in these classes.
Even as the exams, which is conducted twice a year, will be held at respective schools, the question papers will be set centrally by the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
Maharashtra’s school education department issued a Government Resolution (GR) in this regard Wednesday and approved a sum of Rs14. 6 crore for expenditure required under this scheme which is going to be implemented under the Strengthening of Teaching-Learning and Results for States (STARS) project run by the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Maharashtra.
As per the GR, in order to improve the standard of education as well as elevating the level of learning outcome among students by implementing effective teaching learning methods, it is important to know the current understanding of students.
“Thus, the state approved these tests at the beginning of the academic year 2023-24. Initially they were applicable only to government schools, especially those run by various Zilla Parishad (ZP). But this means that a large chunk of students who go to private but aided schools are left out. In this condition, the report of the test will not show a complete picture and will hinder the process of intervention. It was then decided to include private-aided schools in this scheme,” the GR said.
