Some sell advance tickets,some open and shut,some unsure of release

Of Bandra’s three majors due to screen the film,Globus refused to divulge plans,Gaiety Cinema will start bookings only on release day,and Suburbia sold advance tickets for a few hours.

A Globus staff member said,“We haven’t started advance booking and can’t reveal the booking schedule.”

At Gaiety,a staff member said there would no bookings till Friday morning. “There is no fear. We have been getting a lot of enquiries and encouraging the public to watch it.” Ten policemen are on duty outside,their van parked. A policeman said they are on 24-hour duty,at least till the release,but observed that isunsure.

Suburbia sold advance tickets from 10 am and stopped at 1.30 pm. The theatre said 40 per cent of the first day’s tickets wers old in those three hours and enquiries were rising. Some 20-25 policemen and two police vans were outside Shoppers’ Stop on either side,Linking Road and SV Road.

Multiplexes in Andheri and Malad were nearly deserted but for the policemen on duty. Advance bookings for MNIK were suspended for the day. At Malad’s Fame Malad,police kept a wary eye on visitors,advance suspended till Thursday evening. At Cinemax in Andheri,too,counters were deserted.

Regal,Colaba,sold tickets under heavy security. Shows till Sunday went house full but for 20 seats each.

At New Excelsior and Sterling,tickets are not yet being sold but shows are still on schedule. At Metro,a staff member said they plan to open the counter at noon Thursday.

Inox,too,sold under heavy security with the Friday evening show nearly house full,only the front seats unsold. “I’m nervous and might not make it,but I bought tickets just to support Shah Rukh Khan,” said Jayati Motiwala,housewife.

Cinemax at City Centre Mall in Vashi started advance booking on Monday and sold over 500 tickets in two days,but suspended it on Wednesday morning. “There is good demand. If the movie is not released we will refund the money,” said an official.

At Big Cinemas in Palm Beach Galleria Mall in Vashi,where five policemen were on duty,advance booking has been suspended since Tuesday evening. “Our management has asked us to wait till Thursday evening by when a final decision is expected,” said an official.
