Railway commuters were inconvenienced on Friday morning as services were delayed by failures on both lines of the Central Railway. At 7 am,motormen detected a rail fracture on the Kalyan-Shahad line. This delayed at least two trains from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus bound for Asangaon along with two mail trains the CST-Howrah-Geetanjali Express and the Mumbai-Nanded-Tapovan Express. The mail trains were regulated at Kalyan for an hour. All suburban services on the Central line were restored after 8 am, said CR PRO A K Singh. Not less than five trains were delayed on the Harbour line for at least half-an-hour when smoke was detected on a CST- bound Belapur train at Reay Road.
