Actor Sahil Khan appeared before the Mumbai police on Saturday and was questioned for over three hours by the Special Investigation Team in connection with Mahadev betting app case.
Police said the actor appeared before the SIT around 2.20pm, and was allowed to go by 5.30pm.
While the Enforcement Directorate is conducting a probe in the matter, the Matunga police in November last year registered a case against 32 people in the Mahadev betting app case, including promoters Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal and Shubham Soni.
The FIR levels serious allegations of cricket match-fixing, hawala transactions and alleged money laundering through crypto currency networks. Subsequently, the investigation of the case was transferred to the Mumbai crime branch and an SIT was formed.
The police issued a summon to Khan in December 2023. However, he did not appear before the police. Khan had even applied for anticipatory bail at a sessions court, which was rejected following which he approached the Bombay High Court seeking quashing of the FIR.Khan, in his writ plea before the high court, claimed that the charges levelled in the FIR under the gambling law and Information Technology Act are not connected with him.
