Singing into the Sunset

A Fitting finale concluded the NH7 Weekender festival in Pune that had attracted music lovers from across cities.

Some of the best acts were saved for the finale at the NH7 Weekender.

A Fitting finale concluded the NH7 Weekender festival in Pune that had attracted music lovers from across cities. Sunday, the third and final day of the fest, witnessed a packed house. A slight nip in the air, combined with the crowd’s energy, set the mood for the day. Fantastic music by some of the most popular bands added to the euphoria.

The Dewarists Stage was set alight by Scottish band King Creosote,Bengaluru rockers Swarathma and Mumbai’s Dhruv. But the biggest draws were the rustic tunes by Papon & East India Company and the veteran Indian Ocean.

At the Bacardi Black Rock Arena,it was all devils horns and mosh pits as Skyharbor,Goddess Gagged,Bhayanak Maut,Scribe,Demonic Resurrection and Motherjane enthralled the audience. Rock favourites Zero made a surprise comeback and played a brief set to an enthusiastic crowd. But the low-on-frills,The Other Stage played host to some of the best music of the evening. Singer-songwriters Tara Priya,Nigel Rajaratnam,Imphal Talkies,Alisha Pais and The Pictish Trail presented brief performances on a variety of subjects ranging from love and longing to political commentary.

Abstract background imagery and electronica became the highlights of the Eristoff Wolves Den. The final act by Shaa’ir +Func elicited the loudest cheers.

The evening ended with performers gathering at the NH7 All Stars stage to unleash a medley of songs ranging from Testify by Rage Against The Machine,99 Problems by Jay Z,Gwen Stefani’s Keep On Dancing and a tribute to Metallica. The sounds tapered off close to midnight, with a weary stream of listeners walking out into a cold night.
