Child-star Avika Gor makes a comeback as a filmy character
As a child bride,Avika Gor captured the attention of an entire nation in 2009. Her innocence and mischievous charm became her trump card on Colors Balika Vadhu. The show has now taken a time leap and the 14-year-old Gor is no longer a part of it. She,however,is back on television with Sasural Simmar Ka on her parent channel again.
Being back with a show means Gor has a very busy schedule. Apart from studies, she is shooting for this show and an action-thriller film titled Tez. The new show, with a predictable storyline, revolves around Simmar, who belongs to a conservative family and is fond of dancing. The show will go on air in mid-April and Gor plays the lead characters younger sister. In Tez,the young actress plays Boman Iranis daughter. The film, directed by Priyadarshan, also stars Ajay Devgn,Anil Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut.
The ghaghra-choli wearing Anandi of Balika Vadhu will now be seen on the small screen in cotton kurtas, funky nail paint, and artificial, chunky jewellery. As she talks about her new look and character, she also mentions how much she misses the cast and crew of her debut show. I am very close to all of them and obviously I miss them. So,I either call them or just land up on the sets. When the show began,I was supposed to be a part of only 80-100 episodes. But the audience loved the role so much that I continued shooting for almost 500 episodes, she says.
Despite the huge popularity of Anandi,Gor remains grounded. There is even a strange maturity in her and she surprises us with her mature,tailor-made answers. My character,Roli is very filmy and I keep enacting TV stars such as Ichcha and Ammaji. Also,I am very supportive of Simmars passion for dancing, she says.
After wearing lehengas and carrying heavy jewellery to perfecting the Rajasthani accent for her first show, playing the new character sounds comparatively easier. However, she vehemently differs,This role is equally challenging as I do a lot of mimicry which is not easy. She has another challenge to tackle. Everyone still calls me the Balika Vadhu waali Anandi. After the new show,I hope the audience will remember me as Roli, she adds.
