Kallol Datta

Vanity Insanity

Kallol Datta stuck to his forte —abstract styles, asymmetrical hemlines, bulging silhouettes and narrow pants. But,this time around, motifs such as a baby’s skeleton (picture) and bones entered his designs. One flowing white outfit had a print of a man at the bottom with the lines,“Losing my sanity was not part of the plan”.

Ranna Gill

Nature’s Dance

Nature remains a mystery for mankind and Ranna Gill’s collection,“Exotica”,explored just this. An aerial dancer set the mood of the show with stunts choreograped to soothing tunes. What followed was a series of highs and lows in Gill’s range — from bold floral cut-outs and geometrical prints that we have seen on the ramp before,to excessive tassels on short dresses, and gorgeous evening gowns in pink, red and olive green with knotted backs and sequined shoulder straps. There were also disco pants and bell bottoms from the ’60s.
