Senior citizen found murdered

Daksha Daphtari was found murdered in her Sri Krishna Ashish building flat in Garodia Nagar on Friday evening.

Daksha Daphtari (60) was found murdered in her Sri Krishna Ashish building flat in Garodia Nagar on Friday evening. Police have found some valuables missing from her house and suspect the murder could have been the result of a robbery attempt.

Pant Nagar Police said Daphtari was found dead by her husband after he returned home from work on Friday evening.

Daphtari was alone home after her husband left for work at 10.30 am. He owns a shop. He came back at about 7.30 pm to find her lying in a pool of blood in the bedroom, said senior inspector Suresh Nirmal.

There is a deep cut on her neck and two stab wounds on her hands and another near her shoulder, he said.

Evidence suggests this could be a case of robbery. A murder case has been registered, said Nirmal.

Police said the building did not have CCTV cameras. The couple have three daughters.
