A 25-year-old scriptwriter allegedly committed suicide at his Mira Road residence Tuesday night,police said.

A neighbour alerted cops 6 am Wednesday that Amir Yusuf Mir was seen hanging from his ceiling fan. On entering Mir’s apartment,police found a suicide note. “He was depressed as he was unemployed and did not hold anyone responsible for his death,” Dhanaji Shirsagar,senior inspector,Mira Road police station said.

Mir,a native of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir,had come to Mumbai four years ago to find work in the film industry as a scriptwriter. He was living in a rented apartment on the second floor of Evershine Building in Beverly Park,Mira Road East.

Mir’s father took his body to J&K Thursday after post-mortem. “It is a clear case of suicide,” Shirsagar said.
