Scribe files complaint against Nitesh Rane for ‘derogatory’ remarks on Twitter

Maharashtra Industries minister Narayan Rane’s son Nitesh,who was arrested by Goa police earlier this month for allegedly vandalising a toll booth,now faces fresh legal action.

The Mahim police have registered a complaint against him for allegedly making derogatory comments about senior journalist Nikhil Wagle on microblogging website Twitter.

Police sources said Nitesh referred to Wagle as the ‘Marathi Tejpal’ more than once on Twitter,and on Thursday,Wagle lodged a complaint against him.

“We have booked Nitesh for intentional insult and criminal intimidation under IPC as well for sending offensive messages through communication services under the Information Technology Act. No arrests have been made yet,” said a senior police officer.

On December 17,Nitesh wrote on his Twitter page,“we hope ibn network gets rid of ppl like @waglenikhil who is Marathi Tejpal n keeps it’s ethical values..” (sic).

On Saturday,he wrote,“Hearing tat @waglenikhil has lodged a complain against me in Mahim police station 4 callin him Marathi Tejpal..haha wat a full toss!!” (sic)

Nitesh was arrested on December 4 by the Goa police after he and some companions allegedly vandalised a toll booth near Dhargal,Goa and assaulted the staff there. He was later released on bail.
