For the ninth year in succession,Mahatma Gandhi Vidhya Mandir,Bandra East,swept the honours in the 23rd All Bandra Inter-School Road Races organised by the United Athletes Sports Club today.

MVGM grab honours

For the ninth year in succession,Mahatma Gandhi Vidhya Mandir,Bandra East,swept the honours in the 23rd All Bandra Inter-School Road Races organised by the United Athletes Sports Club today,bagging both the girls and boys championships with a tally of 175 and 117 points respectively.MGVM had four winners in the eight events,four each for boys and girls over varying distances,and 14 children on the podium besides. Over 800 children from about 25 schools in Bandra took part in the event which was held in perfect weather as the rain stayed away.

Inter-school chess

The Dr. Prakash Vaze Sports Foundation and Maharashtra Seva Sangh,Mulund will organise the 3rd Smt Susheela Vaze Rotating Inter-School Team-Chess Trophy for promotion of chess at school level under the auspices of the Bombay Chess Association,which will be held on 28 August at,Maharashtra Seva Sangh Hall,above Apna Bazar,J. Nehru Road,Mulund (West). Entries are invited from schools from Mumbai,Thane and Navi Mumbai. A team will comprise 4 players – boys and girls. If more than 4 players,the school can send as many entries as it wishes provided each team has minimum 4 players. There will be 4 categories: 1. upto Std 2; 2. upto Std 4; 3. upto Std 6; 4. upto Std 10. Each round will last an hour duration (30 minutes to each player),and there will be a total 80 prizes. Cambridge rout VPMS

Cambridge School from Kandivli defeated VPMS Vidyamandir in the fourth division matches of the under-16 matches of the MSSA interschool football tournaments being held at MSSA ground at Azad Maidan on Monday.

Cambridge School defeated VPMS Vidyamandir,Dahisar 3-0 in the first match of the day. Mehul Mansaramani opened the scoring for his team after they got off to a bright start. Arshad Shaikh then doubled his team’s lead after scoring a good goal. Cambridge were cruising at this stage and held majority of the possession. VPMS,Vidyamandir on the other hand had to answer to their opponents onslaught and were restrained in their own half. Karan Singh added the icing on the cake when he scored the final goal and finished things off.

Activity School played the second match of the day against Hume School which they drew 1-1. Siddharth Manjrekar opened the scoring for Activity School and they looked like they were heading towards a victory when Ajay Mewade equalised for Hume School and dashed their hopes.
