The Badlapur police Saturday arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl on September 6. Sandeep Karve works as a cleaner on a school bus,police said.
Police said the minor was the only one waiting in the bus after school hours for students of the secondary school to join her. It was during this time that the alleged incident took place,officers said.
Sources said the girl was crying during the return journey. However,she was unable to express what had happened,they added.
Police said the incident came to light Friday when the girl went to a relatives place along with her
parents. After the four-year-old complained of pain in the stomach,her parents took her to a doctor. On examining the child,the doctor suspected it to be a case of rape and told the parents to speak to her. The girl told her parents what had happened on the bus.
A case was registered with the police. Karve will be presented before a court Sunday.
The police will probe the exact sequence of events that led to the crime.
The bus driver and other children will also be questioned.
This is the second such incident reported this year. On February 26,the cleaner of a school bus was arrested by the Malad police for molesting a three-year-old girl. The suspect in the case was identified as Sandeep Pandurang Mandale (24).
