Sanjay Raut slams Centre’s decision to send all-party delegation abroad over Operation Sindoor, says key Opposition parties not consulted
Sena UBT Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi is part of a delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut Sunday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Centre’s decision to send a 51-member all-party delegation abroad in the wake of Operation Sindoor.
Dismissing the move as a mere “baraat (wedding procession)”, Raut questioned both its timing and purpose.
He also urged the INDIA bloc to stay away from the delegation and boycott it.
“There was absolutely no need for this delegation,” Raut said, accusing the BJP of turning a serious national security issue into a political spectacle. “Instead of building consensus, the government is handpicking MPs, ignoring Opposition voices. This is not diplomacy – it’s a show,” he added.
Raut alleged that key Opposition parties – including Shiv Sena (UBT), Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and RJD – were not consulted, despite having significant representation in Parliament. “If this was truly an all-party delegation, every party should have been included,” Raut said.
Criticising the government for ‘sidestepping’ Parliament, he added, “The Opposition demanded a special session on Kashmir and Operation Sindoor. That never happened. First hold the session, then talk about delegations.”
Raut also raised concerns about the delegation’s objective. “Why are MPs being sent abroad? Is the government trying to internationalise the issue? Even during wars, leaders like Netanyahu, Zelensky, or Putin haven’t sent delegations overseas. What are we trying to prove?” Raut asked.
Notably, Raut’s own party colleague, Priyanka Chaturvedi, is part of the delegation, which is being led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Chaturvedi is part of the team visiting the UK, France, Germany, the EU, Italy, and Denmark.
