The Union Home Ministry on Thursday extended singer Adnan Sami’s visa for three months. The visa of Sami,44,a playback singer of Pakistani origin, had expired on October 6.

The Mumbai police issued him a showcause notice on October 15,giving him a week to explain his overstay. The police also told him to pay a fine to regularise the period of overstay. “Now that the home ministry has granted him extension, our notice is null and void and he is not liable to pay a fine,” said Sanjay Shintre,DCP,Special Branch.
