The unveiling of Divya Mohta’s label,Tambourine,at Aza on Thursday was a sparkling success. A lot of high-sounding technical terms — ‘concept-based’ and ‘first of its kind’— were thrown about, but the collection of printed textiles was indeed lovely. Inspired by Ikat,Chintz and Leheriya, the collection which is called Peacock Garden,is a tribute to India’s rich textile heritage. The soiree was hosted by Mohta, with

Dr Alka Nishar—owner of Aza—who plied the guests with delicious Belgian chocolates, and a wide array of wines. Many of the guests, such as Namita Devidayal,Anish Trivedi and Narendra Kumar, arrived wearing Tambourine creations, while others such as Nawaz Modi Singhania,Suchitra Pillai,Mehr Rampal,Arjun Khanna and Yash and Avanti Birla were happy to browse and shop at the launch.
