Police arrest 3 for temple robbery

The Dindoshi police arrested three men from Rajasthan for allegedly robbing cash and idols from temples across Mumbai.

The Dindoshi police on Monday arrested three men from Rajasthan for allegedly robbing cash and idols from temples across Mumbai. An absconding accomplice of the three arrested accused used to lay the groundwork for the robberies by posing as a pujari,police said. While absconding accused Ranjeet Singh is allegedly the mastermind behind the robberies,the arrested accused — identified as Vikram Singh Chauhan,Vijay Chauhan and Kiran Jhala — had allegedly robbed cash and jewellery worth Rs 1.80 lakh from the Jain temple in the Pushpa Park area of Malad (East).

Police said when the robbery was reported in the wee hours of July 24 by the priest of the temple,they reached the spot and secured CCTV footage of the thieves. The three arrested allegedly told the police that Ranjeet used to roam in different areas dressed as a pujari and get jobs at the temples.
