Rahul Akerkar looked calm but confessed he was a bit nervous about the opening of Indigo Delicatessen at Palladium on Thursday. This was surprising given that this is his third café,after Indigo Delicatessen in Colaba and Indigo Café in Andheri. The format and menu remains pretty much the same, but this outlet has a much larger focus on retail offerings as well as a few open air tables. Guests trickled in around 9 pm,just in time for dinner, and it was a fairly calm event. Fashion designer Narendra Kumar looked almost mellow, sporting relatively muted colours that were balanced. Olive’s A D Singh was also there to encourage his peer,as was the colourful Praveena Mecklai. Actor Rahul Bose,a close friend of the Akerkars, looked right at home. Other guests included Priya and Rishad Nathani, photographer Atul Kasbekar,Aneesh Trivedi and Shalini Shahani. Ultimately, though, the party was about the food and was chilled out; we went home at 10.

Showstopper The food. Executive Chef Jaydeep Mukherjee and this Deli’s Chef Rodney Kabral showed off their new sandwiches, jams, and the regular Deli favourites like the burger.
