No BEST bus in night: BEST will not serve from 12 am to 4 am

According to the BEST they were operating buses from depots namely Dharavi, Mahim, Colaba, Backbay, Borivli. These buses were being operated by Mateshwari the private operator. (Express Photo) The BrihanMumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) has stopped last few services that were operating in night hours between 12 am to 4 am. The decision was taken following no ridership in these hours.
According to the BEST they were operating buses from depots namely Dharavi, Mahim, Colaba, Backbay, Borivli. These buses were being operated by Mateshwari the private operator.
The buses from these depots was operational earlier to serve mill workers however, since mills are shut in Mumbai therefore hardly any commuter were using these services, claimed a BEST official.
However, a commuter from Borivali named Harish Marchetty said that he was using BEST in night whenever he has a late night office working.
“BEST is one of the cheapest mode of transport and in night hours due to no traffic the BEST bus would used to be my first choice. I would reach early to my house unlike train for which I need to take an auto from station .BEST provides me an end to end service. It is unfortunate that they have stopped the service,” he expressed.
