The Bombay High Court on Friday rejected the bail application of Datta Khade,a sitting BJP corporator from Pune,in a murder case. Khade, alongwith three others, was convicted by the Pune sessions court in January for murdering Rajesh Pardeshi,a wrestler.
Khade has now moved an appeal against the life sentence awarded to him.
The division bench of Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice Rajesh Ketkar on Friday admitted the appeal, but refused to grant bail to him.
The murder took place on February 11,2004. According to the prosecution,Rajesh and his four friends were stopped by Khade’s men near Fergusson College road in Pune and got into an argument. During the argument, one of the men accompanying Khade stabbed Rajesh. He died on the spot.
