Soon, commuters of Western Railway will see special screens at suburban stations with improved clarity and with speakers attached.
A sample Liquid Electrical Display (LED) screen has already been installed at Andheri station. If it works out, similar LED screens will be seen at other stations soon.
Three years ago,SV Media Private Ltd installed LCD screens at stations but these had been subsequently removed.
One year ago,90 LCD screens were installed near the booking office windows, but these are mute and rather small in size.
Now,WR has opted for the better LED screens. Vijay Vira ,director of SV Media, informed,This technology is state-of-the-art. Visibility on screens is poor especially when there is daylight, but in LED TVs clarity is more both in day and night. In sunlight, visibility does not get poorer. I believe people will like it. We will display entertainment programmes and railway messages for commuters, he added.
On whether LED screens will be installed at other stations too,Vira said,If we get clients, then we will install it at other stations.
Shyam Sunder Gupta,Chief Public Relations Officer,WR,said,We will like to have these at all stations as these generate revenue. But it all depends on how much profit the company that installs the screens get.
