Mumbai cop caught accepting printer as ‘bribe’

The complainant, against whom an FIR was registered at the Antop Hill police station six years ago, approached the ACB that accordingly led a trap.

THE Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a police officer Thursday for allegedly demanding a printer as bribe in lieu of not arresting a man. The complainant, against whom an FIR was registered at the Antop Hill police station six years ago, approached the ACB that accordingly led a trap.

Complainant Nitin Prabhakar Suryavanshi (34) said the officer probing his case demanded a HP inkjet printer costing Rs 7,245 for not arresting him and nullifying the case registered against him in 2010. Accordingly, the complainant purchased the printer and tipped off the ACB about it.

Suryavanshi was caught accepting the printer red-handed Thursday and was placed under arrest.
