Mumbai: 2 fall off flyover from motorcycle, 1 dies

The incident happened over the flyover popularly known as the Times of India Flyover on the Western Express Highway.

Two Kandivali residents fell off a Malad flyover from their motorcycle early Friday morning. One person died and another was injured in the mishap.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sanjay Bist. He was riding his motorcycle and his friend Vikas Patil was the pillion. Bist lost control of his bike at approximately half past midnight Friday. Both are, reportedly, 22 years old.

“The incident happened over the flyover popularly known as the Times of India Flyover on the Western Express Highway. Bist, for some reason, lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the boundary wall of the flyover and the duo fell off the bridge. No other vehicle was responsible for the accident,” said a police officer with the Kurar police station.

The police said that Bist died on the spot due to a severe head injury and Patil got his hand fractured. He is currently being treated in Shatabdi hospital.

“Patil is stable. However, we have not recorded his statement yet,” the officer said.
