Services on Line 3 of the Mumbai Metro, also known as the Aqua Line, experienced a brief disruption on Monday after a train developed a technical issue at Siddhivinayak station.
According to officials, the affected train remained halted for around 10 minutes at the station before the issue was resolved. In the wake of the delay, teams from the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) are monitoring operations closely to restore full normalcy.
“Due to a technical issue in one train at Siddhivinayak station, services were briefly halted for approximately 10 minutes. The issue has since been resolved. As a result, trains are currently running with a delay of about 5 to 10 minutes. Our teams are closely monitoring operations and normal services are expected to resume shortly as per the time table,” MMRCL said in a statement.
In the first week of October, just days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to inaugurate the final stretch of Mumbai’s flagship underground Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ Metro-3 corridor, a train on the line broke down near Santacruz station due to a technical snag.
The incident forced the evacuation of passengers and raised concerns about the preparedness of the much-delayed project. The affected train was subsequently taken to the Bandra-Kurla Complex loop line for inspection and repairs.
