Police said that Chaudhari had dropped a man from the union a year ago, after which they had frequent disagreements. The man was identified as Vikas Auti. In the statement, some eyewitnesses said they saw a man matching Autis description running away from the scene of the crime.
We have registered a complaint against Auti under section 302 of the IPC and are trying to trace his whereabouts, said senior inspector Ahmed Pathan.
Chaudharis family has also given the statement saying they suspect Auti was only a tool, and that some other unions, with whom Chaudharis union has been having tiffs, sanctioned the murder. Pathan said all angles are being examined.
