141 tourists from Gujarat stranded in Uttarkashi district, efforts on to bring them back: State government

Around 141 tourists from the state are stranded in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand following flash floods there, the Gujarat government said in an official statement. All the tourists are safe and the state government has begun the process to bring them back, the statement added.

Quoting senior minister and spokesperson of the Gujarat government, Rushikesh Patel, the official statement said that the stranded tourists are from Patan, Banaskantha, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and Vadodara districts. The Gujarat government’s State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) is in contact with the officials of SEOC of Uttarakhand and the process to bring back the stranded tourists has already started, it added.

According to the statement, owing to bad weather, it is not possible to air-lift the tourists. All the tourists are safe and those who need medical assistance are being provided the same, it added.
