Man posing as Anna relative held for cheating

The Antop Hill police have arrested a 50- year-old man,Navin Hazare,for allegedly cheating people of lakhs of rupees by pretending to be a relative of social activist Anna Hazare.

The Antop Hill police have arrested a 50- year-old man,Navin Hazare,for allegedly cheating people of lakhs of rupees by pretending to be a relative of social activist Anna Hazare.The police have also arrested a woman who is allegedly Navin’s accomplice.

Complainant Leviniza D’Souza approached the police on Friday,alleging that Navin had introduced himself as the owner of a consultancy firm. He had allegedly taken 13 cheques from her for a deal. “Navin has cheated the woman of nearly Rs 33 lakh,” said Shamsher Khan Pathan,Senior Police Inspector.

Police said that since Navin’s surname is Hazare,he had pretended to be a relative of Anna Hazare and duped people by assuring them easy bank loans.
