The LT Marg police arrested a man on Saturday for murdering his friend and colleague with a hammer. The accused, one Deepak Mishra(35),murdered Yasin Mohammad Ali (25) who used to work and live with him at Maharashtra Farsan House at Girgaon. The accused was apprehended by two constables of the VP Road police station at Thakurdwar junction at 4.00 am.
Suspicious over his behaviour, the police constables asked the accused to prove that he lives at Maharashtra Farsan House. When Mishra took them to the Maharashtra Farsan House, the cops found Alis body in a pool of blood. A case of murder has been filed at the LT Marg police station and Mishra has been sent to the police custody till May 7.
Mishra and Ali were close friends. In fact,it was Mishra who recommended Ali for the job eight months ago, said Senior Police Inspector J Sarmokaddam of the LT Marg police station. However, their relationship soured after they started working together. According to Mishra,Ali used to boss over him and make fun of him despite the fact that he is elder to Ali. Ali allegedly hit him once or twice. Since Mishra was a TB patient,he could not retaliate, said Sarmokaddam.
We believe that Mishra committed the murder between 2:00 am and 4:00 am. He took a hammer and hit Ali on the back of his head and face. Ali died on the spot, he said. Commenting on the role of the two constables,Sarmokaddam said,If the constables had not been alert,we would never have caught Mishra. Despite working in the shop for 12 years, the owner didnt have any details of Mishra except the fact that he is from Varanasi.
