
A man from Bhiwandi was arrested by the Government Railway Police GRP), Dombivli, on Tuesday after he allegedly attacked a 56-year-old school headmaster with a knife on April 15, for not providing a service book to the accused person’s wife who is a teacher in the same school, thus barring her from her due increment.
According to police, the accused Shakheel Shaikh was arrested for attacking Bhagwat Krishna Gurav, a resident of Kalyan West and works as headmaster in a school in Kharbao, Bhiwandi. Gurav is undergoing treatment at Arush Hospital, Kalyan.
According to Gurav’s statement to the police, the service book of Minaz Makandar, a teacher who joined his school from another school, was not yet received. However, Minaz and her husband Shaikh have been constantly asking Gurav for her service book, saying she was not getting her increment. They even complained to the education officer, the FIR stated.
On April 15 afternoon when Gurav walking on the railway track towards Kharbao railway station, while returning home from the school, Shaikh came from behind and attacked him, the FIR stated. Gurav said in the complaint that while attacking, Shaikh also said that he would kill Gurav as he was not doing his wife’s service book work. After injuring Gurav, Shaikh escaped.
Gurav contacted his school staff who then rushed him to a nearby public hospital from where he was shifted to Kalyan hospital where he is in the ICU. Dombivli GRP registered a case and arrested Shaikh under section 307 (attempted to murder) and 323 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code, said a police officer.
