Kurar police arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly possessing a weapon Tuesday night.

Kurar police arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly possessing a weapon Tuesday night. The man,identified as Sushil Parasnath Nirmal,was apprehended at Western expressway flyover in Malad east.

According to police,they received a tip-off that a man with a revolver would be coming near the Malad junction flyover. They laid a trap and arrested Nirmal.

Police said that Nirmal is a resident of Vittbhati,a slum in Goregaon. Police recovered a country made revolver and a bullet from him.

Senior inspector Subhash Dafle said,Nirmal was produced before the magistrate court and remanded to police custody till Friday.

Police suspect that Nirmal was either involved in several housebreakings and highway robberies in the area or is affiliated to the underworld.
