Man arrested for poisoning 3 leopards

Aurangabad: Forest officials have arrested one Natthu Mahadev Pachpute,55,for poisoning three leopards — believed to have crossed the Painganga Sanctuary in Yeotmal — in Mahur tehsil in Nanded a week ago. The animals were found dead in Dhanora Shivar village on April 11. Deputy Conservator,Nanded,VJ Warwantkar said Pachpute poisoned them after they killed a calf he owned. He allegedly poisoned the carcass which the leopards returned to eat. “We will get the material used for poisoning; we will lodge a case against him…” Vets,in their provisional report,confirmed poisoning.
