A major fire broke at a commercial building in Andheri (West) Saturday. While the fire caused severe damage to property, except for minor injuries to a fire personnel,no casualties were reported.
The fire broke out in a Chinese restaurant on the ground floor of six-storeyed Royal Plaza at 4 am. It eventually spread. Eight fire engines and water tankers took three hours to douse the flames. Prima facie,it appears the fire started from the restaurants air conditioner and then spread to other floors, a fire official from the Marol fire brigade said.
They said the owners of the restaurant may be sent a notice for failing to comply with fire-safety standards.
