The Malad police have arrested a 38-year-old advocate for allegedly making fake documents of stolen vehicles and selling them in different cities.

The police said Shrikant Mishra was arrested on Sunday after they received a complaint about a stolen motorcycle.

Sub-inspector Manohar Herpude said Vivek Sarvadhi,a resident of Malad (West) had filed an FIR after his motorcycle was stolen from the area a few days ago.

On Sunday, when Sarvadhi was passing through the road near Orlem Church in Malad (West),he saw his motorcycle parked there.

“He recognised the bike by the sticker on the petrol tank. The numberplate of the motorcycle was of Uttarakhand,” said Herpude.

After Sarvadhi approached the cops,a police team went to the spot and after enquiries, got Mishra’s address.

“Upon reaching Mishra’s house and searching the premises,we found insurance and other documents of five cars and three motorcycles. We suspect the documents are fake.”

Herpude said a few blank driving licences were also recovered. “We suspect Mishra may be involved with a gang of car-jackers. We are probing whether Mishra, who is a High Court lawyer, has been making duplicate documents of robbed vehicles and sells them in other cities,” said Herpude.

Mishra will be produced in court on Monday and further investigations are on,he added.
