Top seeded Kushal Udani won the boys singles against Sharan Nagpal with ease,but not so Disha Shirdhankar who had to fight all the way before she could overcome the spirited challenge of Uditi Shenoy in the girls singles final of the JVPGC-All Mumbai Promotional table tennis tournament,hosted by Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana. Kushal triumphed 11-8,11-3,11-4,while Disha had to sweat it out to eke out a 11-7,8-11,11-8,5-11,11-7 win. However,the most impressive winner of Varun Keni in the sub-junior boys singles. The boy from Poorna Prajna Sports Academy had a tough time against higher seeded opponents – third seeded Harshil Modi in the semifinals and Aadiv Shah in the final. It was pretty creditable for Varun emerge winner by beating Harshil Modi 7-11,2-11,12-10,12-10,11-8 and Aadiv 6-11,12-10,12-10,11-6. The final day brought a mixed feelings for Sanjana Choudhary,who was top seeded in the sub-junior and No.2 in the juniors girls events. Sanjana made the sub-junior girls singles final at the expense of lanky Siddhi Kolekar in the semifinals. Sanjana was distinctly fortunate to get past Siddhi,who led in both the games and before her erratic display helped Sanjana to make the final. Even in the final against Roshelle Fernandes it was a close call though Sanjana won in straight games 11-8,12-10,11-9.
