Kandivali, Dahisar railway station to get makeover under Amrit Bharat: What the plan entails
Eight other stations in the plan include Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Malad, Jogeshwari Coaching Terminal, and Palghar are already part of the initiative.

Dahisar and Kandivali stations on Western Railway’s Mumbai division have been added to the Amrit Bharat Station Development Plan, bringing the total number to ten suburban stations under the scheme. The Railway Board issued the notification for the same on Tuesday.
Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, confirmed the inclusion and noted that tenders will soon be issued to appoint a consultant. The consultant will prepare design and architectural plans, along with cost estimates for the redevelopment.
The Amrit Bharat Station Development Plan, a key initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to enhance stations for better passenger movement and introduce facilities like retail outlets and commercial spaces to boost non-fare revenue. The project also seeks to integrate stations as city centres, improving infrastructure and connecting divided areas of the city.
Eight other stations in the plan include Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Malad, Jogeshwari Coaching Terminal, and Palghar are already part of the initiative. They are at various development stages, with civil work already underway at some sites. The average redevelopment cost per station is estimated between ₹20 crore and ₹30 crore.
