When Mumbai-based jewellery designer Purva Kothari was selecting patterns for her ongoing two-day exhibition at the

Taj Mahal Hotel,Delhi, she was sure about what to showcase. “The jewellery connoisseurs here want everything big and elaborate,” said the 38-year-old,who has designed jewellery for the likes of Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Seen sharing details of each piece in the exhibition with her clients, who came visiting on Saturday morning,Kothari — daughter of Vijay Darda,Rajya Sabha member — said,“I exhibit in Delhi once a year and every time I get a brilliant response.”

For those familiar with the designs sold under Darda’s brand INTREA,there weren’t many surprises. A blend of tradition and modernity, the jewellery represents Kothari’s love for rubies, emeralds and diamonds set in gold. While women can choose between neckpieces, earrings and rings,Kothari has a range of cufflinks, pens and buttons for men — all in gold, studded with precious stones. The price tag? Between Rs 50,000 and Rs 50 lakh.
