Indians cried hoarse over the needless beeps and censor cuts when The Social Network released in India last year. This year,David Finchers next directorial venture,The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,is again faced with the Indian censors ire. The release date of the film,a screen adaptation of the popular book by the same name,has been postponed from January 6 to February 10. The movie released internationally in the last week of December and has been received with rave reviews.
Sony Pictures,which is releasing the film in India,concedes that the film is yet to receive a censor certificate but refuses to divulge more. However,a source who did not wish to be named,added that the film with scenes that tend heavily towards violence and sex needs a fresh cut for the Indian market. The cut is ready. However,Sony awaits the approval from the Hollywood office and the director,which is taking time since they were on holiday for the festive season, the source said.
