The Gurgaon police have arrested a former employee of a multinational company for allegedly cheating colleges of lakhs of rupees by conducting fake campus interviews and forging company papers.

According to police,Vijay Shaukeen (38) quit his MNC job four years ago and had been unemployed since then.

He would approach colleges, claiming to represent the MNC. Police said he charged Rs 50,000 from each college, promising them that their students would be employed by the company through campus recruitment.

“He was basically taking a chance. On the one hand,he planned to raise money from colleges. And if a student actually made it to the firm, there was more to be taken. Acting on a complaint, police nabbed him. He is being questioned if there were other people involved in this,” DCP (East) Maheshwar Dayal said.
